Good Crazy – s07e22 Discussion

I don’t need to be rescued, so don’t be that guy…

Good Crazy starts out as a crazy slow episode… seems like mostly filler from the onset to me, merely something to set the tone for the two part season 7 finale, the Magician’s Code. Enjoyable and funny? Yes. Was it like driving behind an old lady on a road where you can’t pass while listening to Dave Chapelle? Yes, and so you understand listening to Chapelle is the enjoyable part. So let’s take some elements one at a time. (more…)

Now We’re Even – Season 7 Episode 21 Discussion

himym - now were even - robinI would be lying if I said that I didn’t have a special attachment to this episode. You see, a few weeks ago I had to great honor of getting to visit the set of How I Met Your Mother with some friends and even got to see parts of tonight’s episode being shot live! It was a great experience and I realize how incredibly lucky I am… but I’ll get to that later. Really.

Trilogy Time – Season 7 Episode 20

Let’s start this off simple and un-How I Met Your Mother Specific, What’s your favorite movie from the Star Wars Trilogy? It was always Empire for me but more on that and a review of Trilogy time shortly.

Trilogy Time- HIMYM- Barney

The Broath – season 7 episode 19

I should start off by stating that I am a Robin & Barney fan…and I thought more than anything I wanted them to end up together. I’m not saying that I’ve abandoned that thought but as I sit looking over LA as the sun starts to set (yes I had an awesome vacation…but I’ll get to that later..) I can’t say I’ll be upset at this point if the writers take things a different way. Now, that doesn’t mean I want them to… but we all know twists and turns are coming so why not enjoy the ride?

Karma – Season 7 Episode 18 Discussion

Tonight’s review comes from one my my favorite HIMYM friends and Barney Stinson expert, Jessica Price. You may know here as @JPriceLegendary from twitter. Enjoy and DISCUSS!

Although this episode did have a few laughs I feel it was a more of a serious episode to push the story along rather then to stretch out the season.  We saw Ted take up a few different hobbies like woodshop and pottery to try and fill the void (if you will) of Robin being gone.

No Pressure – Season 7 Episode 17

The Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series goes to…George Sloan for How I Met Your Mother, "No Pressure."

Jenniac here and I’m going to try hard to be unbiased about tonight’s episode. I should warn you it will be VERY hard considering I went to college with George Sloan and basically harass him about HIMYM every week (and plan to harass him on set when I’m in LA next month). Tonight was his head writer debut and I was looking forward to this episode for weeks.

How the Timing on The Burning Beekeeper Lines Up

How accurately did ‘The Burning Beekeeper‘ sync up, when you layer each five-minute scene over the other? Pretty close, but not perfectly.

I may not have as high praise for the latest episode of How I Met Your Mother as our resident reviewer Ivey, but I admit I was intrigued at the filming style. Neil Patrick Harris even Tweeted that the scene from the kitchen timer’s start until the fiery end was exactly the same length. So how well did everything match up?

As it turns out, some enterprising bloke took it upon themselves to see how well the scenes merged together. The results are sometimes nearly dead-on, while other times it’s way off — even some of the dialog appears to have changed a tad from scene to scene. Still, it’s pretty fun to watch how the whole thing plays together, room-to-room.

Check it out for yourselves below, before the anti-fun squad come snag the thing away.

The Burning Beekeeper – Season 7 Episode 15

himym_burning_beekeper_ted_cootes    First off, Sorry for my absence lately. Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it… Great line but seriously…Life be crazy. Much thanks to my HIMYM bro( Bro-ette?) Jennifer for picking up my slack. She rocks.

So what did you think about How I Met Your Mother tonight? I know it was kind of a one off… but it was a funny episode. And honestly, if you complain every time an episode lacks moving the story along then my bet is you might not be the happiest person. I digress.

46 Minutes – Season 07 Episode 14

Jenniac here filling in once again to lead our HIMYM obsessors group therapy…I mean recapping this week’s episode. Oh and for the record my train ride to NYC from where I grew up is 38 minutes

This week’s episode wasn’t just any episode it was HIMYM’s 150th episode!!! What a huge accomplishment to the creators, writers, cast and crew. I feel like HIMYM is like the little show that could.

A lot of the story was told via inner monologues. It’s good to hear what’s going on in the character’s heads outside of what Future Ted the narrator tells us.

Marshall and Lily officially move to Long Island and the group is forced to deal with it. Not much happens this episode in terms of progress in storyline, aside from Lily’s Dad moving in with them and overstaying his welcome.

The episode jumped around a bunch with single serving jokes. Not a lot to recap, but many moments of awesomeness to point out as well as legendary lines.

  • The intros – both Barney as the leader of the gang  “How I Met your Barney” and the Russian intro with Better Lily and New Marshall.
  • Early relationship chicken – great montage of Robin and Kevin as well as their use of “soooooooooooo”
  • Alyson Hannigan as Jasmine. Giving Ted a lapdance and looking vacant…classic
  •  Marshall’s journey through the house a la Blair witch camera and getting taunted by Mickey via intercom. It was funny for me at first, but then went a little over the top for me.
  •  Barney covered in boob glitter. HILARIOUS
  •  Barney talking about comforting Lily after Marshall dies…
  •  Drunk Ted – playing poker, doling out nicknames, leaving voicemails while on the stripper poll.
  •  The booth it look so sad empty at MacLaurens, but the closing shot of the gang at the booth at Marshall and Lily’s was cute.

The Re-Returns

  • The Lusty Leopard
  • Jasmine the Lily Doppelganger

  • Ted: It’s like when they cancelled Party of Five for the second time. I mean when they cancelled… sports.
  • Ted: It looks like my old shop teacher’s hand, it’s sorta missing something.
  • Barney:  Let’s declare our independence with an on the peen dance.
  • Mickey:  A lot of great memories here, mostly just discovering my body.
  • Barney: I’m your two best friends.
  • Drunk Ted: We built chip city, we built chip city on all your dough.
  • Marshall: I’m pretty sure I have a drumstick, somewhere bad.

Can we define  what a mostly abandoned insane asylum exactly?

Did anyone else catch when Kevin mentioned that him and Robin were sleeping together?  I wonder when they crossed that bridge since they hadn’t back when Robin thought she was preggers.

Wait does Robin not like high fiving Kevin or high fiving? How are she and Barney supposed to work if she doesn’t like high fives?

I saw in the comments that someone isn’t a fan of Mickey sticking around. I’m not a huge Chris Elliot fan so I’m not sure if that affects my dislike of Mickey, but at this point I’m not looking forward to more of him.

Was Lites Out Mickey’s only successful board game? What about Slap Bet? I thought that was a commercial success?

Sound off in the comments section, I love reading your thoughts!

Tailgate – s07e13

Quite literally, just got in the door. And haven’t got to watch…or review yet. I’m a bad web site host I know. I would resolve to do better for the new year but I’ve been resolution free since 93. True Story.

At any rate, I’ll get something up ASAP but until then I’d love to know your thoughts on Tailgate! Discuss.
