How I Met Your Mother Season 7 Music
Part 1
- music from The Legend of Zelda (plays as Marshall talks with the cash machine)
- You Were Born by Cloud Cult (playing as baby Marvin “wait for it” Erkisen arrives to the world)
Part 2
- The Wind by Cat Stevens (Ted & Victoria drive off into the sunset & closing moments of Season 7)
The Magician’s Code, Part 1
I don’t have a lot to say about this episode. It was awesome to see some focus on Marshall & Lily. In fact this may be the most even episode of the season. Even, in the sense that everyone was involved. What I don’t get is other than the continuation feel of going from one episode to the next, why call it “The Magician’s Code” as well?
I digress. The point of the episode was baby MArvin “Wait For It” Eriksen… that and possibly giving us enough story lines to fill up next season.
Legendary Lines
Robin: Once you see a baby erupt through that canal, you stop even touching yourself…
Lily: I remember that suit, he looked like a little kids imaginary friend.
Robin: That was not cool Ted.
Lily: Contraction!
Robin: That…wasn’t cool Ted?
Old Ted: Kids, sometimes the universe sends you exactly what you act for…other times, it sends you Lily’s dad.
Ted: That head was coming out of your best friend
Moments of Awesomeness
- Marshall talking like Yoda
- the Big Thing?
- lilysinlabor.com
- “wait for it” may in fact be the greatest name ever… but my wife said no.
- lots of great stories to entertain Lily… did they just outline all of Season 8?
- despite not being a huge fan of Lily’s dad, this may have been the best we have seen of Chris Elliott on HIMYM yet.
- Marvin “Wait for it” Eriksen
New Jersey
- Knowing that Barney’s bride was teased so much in the promo, twitter, act…I just want the baby to be born and move on…you knew it would be the last moment of the season. And seriously, baby’s are cute and all but I was over it before it happend. Awesome middle name though.
the ReReturn Moment (despite the fact it was butted up to Part 2)
Marshall goes through the green door to find he had been tricked.
The Magician’s Code Part 2
This finale honestly seemed so intense at moments I had trouble taking notes…so if I missed anything or got it off, just consider that your invitation to fill in the blank. Cool?
Barney. A wedding that that went horribly wrong. That’s what Ted said. So knowing that and seeing who Barney’s bride was/is… is that good or bad news for Robin/Barney fans? And what else do we know about the wedding once we put the pieces together:
- Barney is the groom
- Robin is the Bride
- Ted meets the mother for the first time there
- Barney questions his choice (not just the actual tie)
- Ted says it went horribly wrong
- They probably will have cake…I love cake
Legendary Lines
Marshall: I wonder how much this would hurt
Robin: And you threw it all away for some hot piece of ass
Ted: You mean you
Robin: Aww, Thank you.
Ted: click. photo burn
Marshall: 8 or higher bro
Barney: Last chance to run away together…
Moments of Awesomeness
- Robin dropping relationship knowledge on Ted.
- Overhead camera that zooms in on whoever is being the loudest
- Victoria in a wedding dress
- Marshall’s love of weddings… nice touch.
- While Robin wasn’t as much of a surprise, the Victoria moment came out of nowhere. I love being taken off guard.
- Ted is definitely trying to make the Wedding bride two with this one.
New Jersey
- I reserve the right to talk bad here if in the future I don’t like what happend with Robin & Barney… I trust the show peeps and all but hated the fact that Ted started by saying it was a Wedding that went badly…
Lingering Questions
- Is it good or bad that Robin is the bride?
- How are Barney & Quinn going to fall apart?
- What’s the end game of the Ted & Victoria piece? We know (unless all the clues so far are false) the she isn’t the mother… so what are you thoughts on there this is going?
- Will Season 8 end it? No official word yet but Carter & Craig they won’t keep that a secret once it’s for sure.

CAN’t WAIT
ANyone know who did the song right after Marvin was born?
OMG. I knew it would be Robin!
Wondering what the song was at the end of tonight’s episode as Ted & Victoria drive off into the sunset?
Cat Stevens – The Wind. Also used to glorious effect in the glorious film “Almost Famous”.
This was an absolutely astoundingly wonderful episode – well, two episodes – of HIMYM. The laughs were big, joyous, and kept on coming. I particularly loved the “I’m having a heart attack” scene on the bus. Brilliant. Plus, the Zelda reference. Excellent. Wow, so many things that I can’t remember them all.
The Victoria curveball was a pretty huge one and I didn’t expect Ted to do what he did in the end. In fact, I found myself bemoaning Ted’s “Ted-like” decision to take Victoria to her wedding just moments before (while knowing that, ultimately, it was the responsible move). I’m not sure how I feel about Ted running off with her though, I mean, we know for a fact she’s not the mother. Still, if this episode proved anything – it’s the journey that matters, not the destination. I’m very curious to see where this all goes and can’t wait for season 8 or even 9 if they decide to go that far.
As for the Robin-bride thing – not surprised. This was evident from the end of season 6.
I can’t wait to rewatch this episode again soon. God bless you, Tivo.
Oh, and the engagement ring in the box was a nice gag but fairly obvious after they spent so much time on it.
Thanks!!
I don’t think it was that song but deffinetly cat stevens
How do we know for a fact Victoria is not the mother? The writers have complete control to do so at this point. There’s not enough evidence IMO (and I could be wrong) to rule her out. I would love to see her wind up being the mother.
It was called You Are Born by Cloud Cult …I’ve got it listed above and on the music page!
see right above Sarah 😉
you have a link for the Almost Famous song Frank?
trust me. 😉
….?
I don’t really want her to be the mother. I love her though. But, why would Ted Mosby, the romantic, gushy guy want to tell his kids the story of how he stole their mother away from another guy? Plus, she was in college at the time, and Victoria isn’t/wasn’t in college. The himym writers have made it clear that she’s not the mother.
According to the Season 6 dvd extras where they run down the list of “what we know about the mother” one of the entries is “It was almost Victoria”. Essentially, the story is that when the show was originally picked up it was picked up for something like 12 or 13 episodes. The writers nonetheless wanted a way to end the show with the reveal of the mother if they didn’t get picked up for a full season. Enter Victoria. She was the original candidate for the mother, but when the show was given a full season, they changed that. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Ted told his kids about a 3 way… if not mentioning his… he has told them about Barney’s. The better question may be what won’t Ted tell his kids 😉
Maybe the reason Barney’s wedding doesn’t go so well is because he takes Victoria to the wedding but meets the woman of his dreams instead. Oh man, I feel so bad for Victoria. They better kill her off because I couldn’t stand Ted breaking her heart.
It was almost Victoria because if the show wasn’t picked up for season 2, they would’ve ended it at Victoria.
And there are ton loads of evidence that Victoria’s not the mother.
First off is the fact that Ted meets the Mother at Barney’s wedding.
We are in agreement. Did you mean to reply to Greg?
Here’s a question: How do they resolve the Quinn situation? The actress, Becky Newton, is due to star on a new series this fall.
You missed the part where Robin was smiling during the cab fight in Part 1. That Canadianess
Oh yea. Sorry. I meant to reply to Greg.
I’m still grappling with tonight’s episode(s). I loved all the stories to distract Lily – but I dont think they outline season 8 because they are being told in May 2012, but then again the whole timeline for the show has gotten a bit blurred. I loved seeing Ted revisit Victoria, but as soon as he called her and she said she has “a thing” later that day I KNEW she was getting married. Hello remember Love Solutions lady. I just really would hate the idea of Ted being the person who pulls a “Tony.” I was weirdly happy to see Robin in the wedding dress because it means she isn’t marrying Ted, but I REALLY liked Barney and Quinn. However Barney and Robin’s chemistry in the scene after Barney announces his engagment was pretty strong. I just hate seeing all of these secondary charaters getting crushed by the gang.
I love that HIMYM pulls at my heartstrings, but sometimes I really get frusted by the melodrama of it all.
Did love seeing Ted’s neighbor AKA Sylvia Fine – Fran’s mom – from The Nanny!
I NOTICED THAT TOO and how Robin loves a fight!
I NOTICED THAT TOO and how Robin loves a fight!
i think when ted was saying it was a story about a wedding that went horribly wrong, we were supposed to think he was talking about Barney and Robin, but he was talking about Victoria/Klaus…or maybe that’s a redirect too? I don’t know, when I watched it I originally thought it was about Barney/Robin but then I thought about it more…I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
well, the series she’s starring in is by the same creators, so I’m sure they’ll be able to figure something out.
Really unlikely but I’m thinking double wedding: Barney and Quinn; and robin and shirt guy
Not necessarily shirt guy but someone else she falls in love with. It’s said that Robin gets a boyfriend in Season 8 so the ending could be nothing but a red herring.
I recently started watching How i Met Your Mother Season 1 and 2. I admit it hooked me on. I know i am 5 seasons behind, and ironicaly watched this episode today. So I am very happy to see Victoria’s character return. But I must admit, I never saw Barney and Robin getting married after seasons 1 and 2 :/ I personally feel like the show is afraid to commit. I really wanted to see Victoria and Ted together. Maybe even Ted and Robin. I guess I have seasons 3-7 to catch up on.
I think ted had sliped victoria thru his fingers twice, an he had to try this time… Lilly and her dad, i was really laughing my ass of… The surprise ring for quin from barney that was of the Charts… And at the end barney and robin… I am a little sad… But that was a GRAND FINALE!!!
When Ted said it was a wedding day that went badly, I think that was referring to Victoria’s wedding day. I really liked the episodes and can’t wait for the next season. There is just a missing piece to the story for me that I hope gets filled in by the end of next season. We know Ted wouldn’t have met the mother if he wasn’t a professor. How does him teaching lead to Barney and Robin’s wedding? Am I the only one who thinks that Ted running off with Victoria reinforces Robin’s comment that Ted only goes after unavailable women? No one more unavailable than a woman on her wedding day. Also, Ted should have known better since he was on the left at the altar end of the scenario.
Also, I invented the 8 or higher rule. I’ve been using that rule for years.
GREAT INTERVIEW WITH CRAIG THOMAS ABOUT THE FINALE. It actually gave me some peace and closure about the episode. http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/15/how-i-met-your-mother-season-7-finale/
When you’ve seen every HIMYM episode…in order… at least a dozen times each… THEN you can comment! #Burn #IRock
I’m fairly sure Bays/Thomas said that they DO get married, and I’m hoping that it is to each other! I think I would feel cheated otherwise. I think their chemistry is just so strong and they play off each other so well that anything else wouldn’t work. Plus Quinn is only going to be there when she can be because of ‘The Goodwin Games’ and I read an interview with one of the creators talking about how season 8 is going to be the story of how Robin and Barney got to that place.
Carter and Craig have definitely said now that Robin and Barney get married to each other.
Where? Link?
lol batman!
I wanted to know the bride so badly that i peeked before i saw it & regretted it immediately, but the biggest shock of all was Victoria! When the heck is season 8?!?! I WANT IT SO BADLY!!
#YourTieIsStillStupid
Lol. I guess so. But all the evidence goes against it.
Riding off into the sunset is nice, but thanks to what the narrator said earlier, they will have to do this Victoria part without Ted ever saying “I love you”… I can see those writers smirking to themselves and thinking “Challenge accepted!”
catch up season 3-7, it’s definitely worth it 😉
Honestly, i was watching this show since the first episode but this season final was the worst of all. The last two minutes of e24 was so awful to see, i just couldn’t find the words to describe. If Robin and Barney will marry, that won’t make any sense in any way, really, it never made sense for me to see Barney and Robin together. Second, we, reading this blog and others, all know that Victoria won’t be the mother, and the changing in Ted’s mind just because of two pictures he had in his memory? Come on, i really expected something more then that! Don’t get me wrong, i really would love to see Victoria and Ted get together and Victoria getting the mother, but we all now that this is wrong, and so do the writers i guess. So that doesn’t make any sense, too. Only possible solution is that Ted and Victoria won’t find their way together in the next season. That whole thing doesn’t just make any sense at all. So why are they giving that to us? I just don’t get it. Barney and Robin, to get more specific: why introducing Quinn to the season and even make her the feyoncy, if we know at the end of the season that she won’t be the bride of Barney? That doesn’t make any sense either. So, i’m really clueless here, i just won’t get it, whats the sense of all this obv senseless relationship-introduction?
Only thing i really loved to see is Marshall arriving in time to the birth of Marvin (as expected), one of the best and one of the most awaited moments in this whole season! And yeah, wait for it is the best middle name of all time! But, is getting this show about Marshall and Lilly resp. Barney and Robin or is it still about Ted and finding the mother? After this season i’m really not sure anymore.
I read somewhere at the beginning of the season that Quinn was supposed to die (something along the lines of getting eaten by an alligator/crocodile). I cannot remember where I read that, but it was a huge “spoiler” for a bit. So, maybe, this is a possibility still…?
I think it was an act of necessity since Quinn was fixing to leave. My guess is that he was going to propose on the trip but was sorta forced to so he made the most of it.
I love the fact that NPH really is into magic though.
don’t ever read too much into things… If HIMYM has taught us anything it’s that the writer’s love the details and wording is important. I don’t think they have said “yet” that they do get married… only that Robin is the bride at the wedding.
If you find the article that say’s it I’d love to see it though!
