HOWEVER before I do that, can we all hold hands and squeal about how happy we are that we got to see Mother again. I kept LOOKING for her in the background of scences (no luck). As soon as Mother said the view is like going back it time I KNEW the proposal was coming. I wasn’t sure how far the writers would let us see it, but I was thrilled we got that moment, although it didn’t seen so elaborately Ted (Blue french horns, suits, driving gloves, etc – the man doesn’t take things lightly), but maybe the Mother evens him out or makes him feel like he doesn’t have to try so hard. The Otis Reddng (Ted’s favorite artist as I was reminded by @osumarko). I’d love for you all to sound off in the comments with Legendary Lines or flesh out some of your thoughts based on my tweets. I’ll be obsessively refreshing the comments section for the next 48 hours, hope to see you there!

Ted and the mother must have their daughter pretty quick. If they get engaged 2 years after the wedding that would make the year 2015. And in season 7’s episode “Trilogy Time” it shows that in 2015 Ted’s daughter is a few months old. And I doubt they get married right away, probably months of planning. So….c’mon himym continuity!
It was a great episode, loved the heart strings it pulled. And the part with the mother was really great. It just bugs me when they dont follow their timeline.
Whenever they do somethin like that it just kinda yanks me outta the show. Like in season 6’s “The Mermaid Theory” when it says that Marshall and Robin had never hung out alone together haha. Drove me nuts cuz by that point in the series there had been a few episodes where they hang alone. Marshall takes her to his bar, they drive to get Lily at the airport, etc. Or any time Barney drives haha. I get that over time he may have got over that fear so thats ok. But still.
Anyway, I love the show, its been my favorite for years. Ted and the gang are easily considered close friends. I usually try to see continuity errors as Future Ted gettin stories mixed up or forgetting details but the writers should be a bit more aware of what their doing. At the very least the cast should catch the mistakes haha. Sorry to rant, I just see this as a safe space for us hardcore himym fans haha.
When I first saw them and the mother had her arms crossed I thought she was hiding a pregnant belly (which she wasn’t), however Narrarator Ted says “not two years later” which could give some flexibility with timeline, but I agree the timing of things or inconsistencies can take you out of the moment. You can say whatever you want, but the final 5-6 minutes of the show really saved the episode. 🙂 And about the pregnant-issue: she was already pregnant but you couldn’t see it. That’s all. xD
