There was a brief moment Monday night whenHow I Met Your Mother was maybe solving all of its problems by introducing us to the mother. She’s played by Cristin Milioti! We actually saw her! Maybe now the show can go back to its more-pleasant roots and tell us a delightful love story! Alas, it is not to be. CBS president Nina Tassler cleared up some of the speculation about what would happen in the show’s ninth and final season. She tells TVLine that the whole season will indeed span just the 56 hours before Barney and Robin’s wedding, as some had feared, and will be about “how each character, before Ted, meets the mother. So, they each meet her independently before he does.” So if you were tired of seeing Ted Mosby be such a weenie, tough tacos for you.

I have to say I’m intrigued by the concept. If nothing else, its ballsy. I think this show can pull this feat off.
It sounds like this won’t happen now, but I personally think it may be cool to also see things from the mother’s perspective maybe say at the St Paddy’s Day party, Econ 305, with the roommate, having her gig cancel at the last minute, etc.
This kind of sucks… I was expecting to see Ted and the Mother’s develloping relationship be the main focus of season 9, with maybe some flash-forwards of after they’re married. But maybe this concept means that the very final line of the very final episode will be Ted saying “and kids, that’s how I met your mother”, which would be really awesome.
Span “just the 56 hours BEFORE” the wedding?
So we don’t even get to see the wedding, just before it? Wtf…
Yeah, i kinda like this flow, you know. Showing us, in a way, how she
came to be a part of the group by telling us about her interaction with
each member. Though, an entire season covering merely “56 hours” ?? But
then again, its Ted who’s narrating so that should be pretty simple.
