How I Met Your Mother Music
- Museum of FLight by Damien Jurado amazon (last song of the night as one couple calls it quits and the others stay together)
Marshall & Lily. Again, Marshall is the funnies overall on the show… Lily is a nympho. The jokes really never seem to get old there… especially when they pull out the “honka, honka” talk. Plus we know they are solid and not going anywhere. I’m not all about the baby, but it’s great to watch.
The rest of this will be tough because we all know we are talking about doomed relationships…
Barney & Quinn. I was kinda bummed by how quickly they were done. And to be honest, they were not my first guess as the couple to go, though looking back it may be the obvious choice. The fact that not trusting each other just now comes up… or maybe it had before, just not that directly… really caught me off guard. Good writing. And on another note, whether you liked Becky Newton’s character or not, she is gorgeous. Will this be the last we see of Quinn? I find it hard to believe that anyone else could enter the picture..and we know that Barney & Robin are moving together… though we have no idea where it ends. I’d love to see her back, even briefly.
Nick & Robin. Talk about quick moving… We really have to remind ourselves that most of this relationship has taken place off screen or when there were no good stories to tell. I feel like it will get it’s day in the sun though… and that may be the bulk of an episode that ends with the end of the relationship. Still Nick in the bar talking with all the guys felt good overall. Not out of place or rushed…. unless you rally don’t get the whole passage of time thing. Overall, I like and Robin together and I’m interested to see where it goes.
Ted & Victoria. and I guess Klaus at the moment. And just how awkward will that be? Is it a possible recipe for break up? Ted & Victoria are just kinda there tonight… especially in the comedy department… Klaus though, funny guy. I may be missing some of the German jokes though. And yes, I though for sure they would end first. It’s not often I admit that I’m wrong so mark it.
If you are looking for story over comedy then last week was all for you… Now please don’t think I’m saying that Farhampton was bad… it just wasn’t as funny as tonight. Either way, I enjoyed both but for different reasons. Tonight, it was just time for a good laugh.
Legendary Lines
Barney: First of all, if you have an onion be gel, you don’t need scallion creme cheese
Quinn: What woman want’s her breast squeezed like a seal horn.
Future Ted: The next day one of these four couples broke up!….. Okay it wasn’t lily and marshall….
Nick:… oh I’m sorry, I didn’t realize it takes 42″ to keep you satisfied
Lily: Marshall you thought a ghost made your toast this morning
Marshall: YOU DIDN’T PUT THE BREAD IN I DIDN’T PUT THE BREAD IN!
Author: I’m just getting back in the game… the red with the baby, whats the situation?
Klaus: This is a popular German situational comedy–one is very neat, the other very very neat (hooray for German jokes)
Moments of Awesomeness
- Summer of Love and no good stories, how often do you think the kids have wished for that?
- Snap, Crackle, Pop… Lily’s lady parts
- I like Robin’s boyfriend, Nick, at the table.
- That shock ring seems painful… let’s never speak of it again.
- Hero Ted.
- Ferret bite on the eyelid… how great. Is that really how they kiss?
- It’s nice to see tugboat and Author reunited.
New Jersey (What was Bad)
- Too many laughs for me to right down. True Story… It’s not really bad.. just makes me miss a lot.
- Maybe it’s not a that New Jersey… but should the second episode of the sea on be better than the Season Premier?
- Quick Relationships. In the tradition of a relationship that
The Re-Return (The moment after the show is over when they come back for a quick laugh moment)
- Klaus, Victoria & Ted on the couch enjoying “Strange Compatriots” the German Situational Comedy… the line from Ted, is he comparing it How I Met Your Mother? I think so.
Lingering Questions
- One couple down, will this be the last we see of Quinn? Did it happen to fast?
- Which couple is next in the “Autumn of Break Ups”?
- This may be a bad idea but what would you change (pre-nup) style?
- What did you think of The Pre-Nup?
Finally, Don’t forget that HIMYM Season 7 comes out on DVD tomorrow (or today… possibly in the past when you are reading this… time travel right?)
So, this was definitely better than last week. I’m shocked they ended Barney and Quinn so quickly. It does make sense, but it seemed unusual. Here’s my theory though: This episode should have been the season premiere. The season premiere should have been the season finale and everything else gets pushed back one episode (with “The Burning Beekeeper” eventually getting deleted from existence).
How much better would it have been to have Ted get the big clue about the Mother as a season finale? How much more shocking would it have been to have Barney & Quinn break up in the season premiere? Plus that flash forward to Robin & Barney together? Delightful for a season long tease.
It just seems like C&C are making a bit of a mess out of trying to tell too much story in too limited a time. I get that they’ve got one season possibly to end the show, but still. It’s rushed. I kind of feel like their jokes are getting predictable too. Anyway, liked it more than last week, but largely still just thinking it’s a very “just okay” start to the season.
Also, I totally agree that C&C were getting a little meta-show by having Ted reference that you care about the characters in this German show. It was an odd choice.
I watched last nights episode with a couple coworkers of
mine from DISH and I have to admit, I was really the only one that was happy
that Quinn is FINALLY gone! She always bugged me, from the first time her
character was on screen. I couldn’t be happier that she’s out of the picture,
and now it clears the way for us to see how Barney and Robin finally get back
together. Overall it was a great episode. I love watching the show as part of a group,
but I always feel like I miss some things. Today I’m going to go home after I
get off work and re-watch the whole ep. I’m looking forward to using Auto Hop
on my Hopper to skip the commercials, too. I actually prefer it this way, as I
can watch it uninterrupted and focus on the small things I missed the first
time through.
It was a cute episode- like we see time and again we are going back and referencing old jokes- Marshall’s hunt for Bigfoot, the Erikson ruff-housing, Tugboat & Arthur. It was funny and it was eye opening for Barney and Quinn. It did what Ted said in the end, gave us some comedy but a lot of sentimental value. Does that make it cheesey, yes. Are Craig and Carter doing too much of that so far, maybe? I think CBS needs to just sit down and have the discussion- is this the last season or not? Until we do that, we’re going to keep having these mixed reviews about the season..
Your plan makes sense man. And while it’s starting to look like this will be the last season, I’d like to know for sure.
Am I missing something? I thought this episode was so much worse than ‘Farhampton’! Barney and Quinn’s breakup seemed entirely predictable due to the format of the episode (we’ve hardly got to know Nick and what would be the point of bringing Ted and Victoria back together without her ‘fixing him’ ready for YM?) yet also felt badly handled and almost as lazy as Nick’s re-introduction last week. I barely laughed during the episode – only ghost-toast and neat and very neat did it for me. However, I commend the episode for pushing the plot forward a bit and thought the “a little ways down the road” ending was very sweet. I was surprised that this was a Bays/Thomas episode – cause it certainly didn’t feel like it to me.
honka , honka is so funny . and im kind of lily i liked , liked honka honka and i hope the marvin don’t have to much scenes , beacause will be so bored
