Seemed a bit more serious tonight…possibly full of clues? I’ll say more after I finish watching this amazing rock opera about a yogurt shop…
The opening of tonight was extremely strong. And the band spoof for the opening music was awesome. Judging from twitter (by the way, have you met me?) Truly a great idea. The bar scenes mimicking the old who’s on first routine was great…Though hard to follow. I did like the fact that they mentioned OK… that’s the club from Season 1 right? The one that the coat check girl worked in. I digress.
Let’s talk about all the clues tonight. From Ted’s infamous “ more on that later” we know there is more to come with Robin’s crush. I loved the way they used the opportunity to give us some back story on the Red boots and also show how far Ted & Robin have come since their initial relationship.
The big cues I thought came with Barney. The obvious one comes from the closing scenes with Barney, Jerome and the lady driver in the car. I know we won’t know until later but which girl is he thinking is the right one to help him settle down? I feel like the two obvious choices are Robin and Nora. I think for now we err towards Nora because of the recentness of how A Change of Heart ended. However, there was also a moment in tonight’s episode when one might surmise it could be Robin. Consider the small hypothetical conversation Barney was sharing with his friend. and he elaborates a little too much on his previous relationship with Robin. Nora or Robin. I’ve pretty happy to watch it happen.
I felt the closing was kind of pushed…still good but lately HIMYM has been great at closing strong. Maybe the opening just overshadowed it in awesomeness. I mean let’s be honest…Barney’s “I’m Broken” line was a huge deal. And he and Lithgow work so very well together.

Moments of Awesomeness
- Best HIMYM opening theme ever. It will be on my website soon. Truly amazing, plus they’re a band.
- It’s always funny how Lily is such a nympho, and especially how she was excited about the open marriage while Marshall was upset.
- Loved the club names discussion and who’s on first parody. Also check outcliqueclack.com’s article called is Barney Broken? They actually transcribed it. Good stuff.
- The red boots. While we may never know the complete origin of the pineapple it’s nice to know the full story behind Ted’s red cowboy boots…and he is still not “pulling them off”
- I now have a new standard bet.
- Lithgow’s Footloose joke/reference was perfect.
- Lithgow is hilarious. That is all.

Barney is on the lake with Jerome and his brother. In the words of Barney, shortly before swatting a fly… “This Sucks”
Lingering Questions
- Like I said earlier, there seemed to be a lot of clues tonight. Do you take them more towards Robin & Barney together clues…or Robin and Barney separate?
- We definitely see a lot of changes in Barney, where is this going you think? What’s more do you think Barney is truly “Broken”?
- Do you think we’ll see another clue about the mother before we see the wedding?

The shirt Robin’s crush is wearing at the sale is the same shirt as Lawrence the guy that buys Lily’s painting on season’s 3 episode 19 in wearing.

I think the person who Barney was talking about at the end was Nora, him and Robin are over and done with. Nora actually made his heart skip a beat, thats gotta mean something.
It has to mean something. I want him and Nora… Robin will find her duck somewhere else and not in rehashing the dysfunction with the Barnacle.

But her husband actually have appeared in some episodes: he’s on of the guys at GNB. He’s called Taran Killam and his role is as Blauman. You can check the episodes where he has appeared in IMDb.

I think the girl Barney is thinking about is Robin, for what he said in the bar (Barney often tells his real feelings through another person). But I’m sure it will take some time to get there. It will be exciting 🙂

Real life husband or show husband? I only ask because I refer to these actors by thier HIMYM names and not their real names….
I would totally watch a rock opera set in a frozen yogurt shop.
I loved the beginning of the episode, I thought it was going to be one of the best ever. I was crying with laughter for the first 10 minutes. The discussion about clubs was brilliantly done, and I just loved the theme music. Marshall & Lily being in an open marriage was hilarious, I loved all the interaction related to that. Barney and his Dad were also awesome. But after the beginning, despite all these things still being amazing, it sort of fell a bit flat…until Barney’s amazing admission at the end. NPH is incredible.
The one thing I REALLY didn’t like was the Ted & Robin stuff. I loved her “mystery crush” and I can’t wait to see him again, it’ll be fun to see what happens. But I felt like they devalued Ted & Robin’s relationship…they were completely into each other when they were going out, and yet they have Robin be imagining her mystery crush while having sex with him? It annoyed me. Just because she’s not the mother doesn’t mean they weren’t incredible together. And I want to fondly remember Ted/Robin as something beautiful that wasn’t to be, instead of it being tainted.
Now I’ve got that out of my system…I think Barney was thinking of Robin. I have no specific reason, and I would actually rather it be Nora (with maybe Robin and mystery crush working out?), but it’s just a feeling I got. And although the “marry Robin, you’ve never been happier than when you were with her” spiel was pretending to be his Dad, it did make you go “uh, where did that come from Barney?!” However I really don’t think it would be wise to go back to that, so I hope it’s Nora…
I liked the part where Marshall said La-mé. LOL!
I really liked this episode. It was funny. Especially the Ted and Robin parts were funnier than Barney’s parts which is rare. I like the Robin and her secret crush storyline and am very interested to know how it shapes up. I feel Barney still has a thing for Nora.
But I noticed in the last episode (Exploding Sub one) when Barney is lying on the hospital bed, Robin is around. Most of the flash forwards never show Robin and Barney. They usually show Marshall, Lily and Ted.
I also was a bit disappointed with that stuff: “sexwithcoveredted” and “buythebootscausesheishot”. I think that didn’t fit very well with what we know about Ted&Robin relationship.
Anyway, I guess no relationship is perfect and even you love a person like hell you can make mistakes or have doubts or get confused with other people… Well, it worked with me to think this way.
I read spoilers for part of the Season Finale. It doesn’t say who got married but it did talk about who the wedding wasn’t for.

Re-run this Monday. After that all new episodes until the May 16th season finale and we will finally know who the wedding is for.
I think Robin really enjoyed pretending to be together with Ted – that’s why she was smiling at the end and didn’t bother anymore about her crush
It would be cool if that was the case but unfortunately it’s not. There is going to be a Robin/shirt guy reunion next season most likely

I’m thinking that when Barney says : Maybe I Have Already Met her, he is talking of Nora. I hope so because she’s cute :). But I will miss the old Barney if he changes his mind towards women. 😛 I think we all will.
