While tonight’s episode of How I Met Your mother was great and funny, I really feel the best part’s had more to do with discoveries off then show than on. What am I talking about? You should try to email both…the replies are virtually identical, but worth the few seconds it will take. I don’t want to spoil the fun so try and tell me what you think…
Robin. Like I said, earlier it was a funny episode but it’s hard to compare to the first three this season. But there was still anticipation, like with when Robin would actually assault someone… and who? I feel like we were being pushed to believe she would assault Nora (much to some fan’s delight) but that really seemed so un-Robin what happened more made sense. On that same vein, while this episode did cover some 3rd wheel Ted, team baby and Barney, Nora & Robin ground…it was overall very Robin centric I thought. And with that, it seemed like Robin was the one telling the story overall tonight. Are we to read anything into that? Was she telling it to the kids? Was Ted telling the story of her telling the story? Is this just meant for us and not for the kids? Thoughts? I digress, thought I do agree it’s time we focus a little on Robin. And she may be a bro, but a very hot Bro…had Nora not came back, Nora would have worked in my mind.
Kal Penn. Is that it for him? Will he be back? IT was a good roll and all but I honestly expected a bit more of him the way show peeps talk. However, most of his lines? Hilarious. And it goes without saying but Ted definitely could benefit from some therapy.
Team Baby. Ted really is the ultimate 3rd wheel at this point in the show. And not in the good way, original HIMYM meaning of Third Wheel anymore. Marshall is easily my favorite part of the team…and funnies. Thought it’s not a team without all 3 legs of the tripod here so I’ve got to give Lily and Ted even a little credit. The baby class, btw…both hilarious and painful to watch. True Story.
Barney. Seemingly a pawn in Robin’s story tonight, but a funny one the whole time. The external websites, the multiple BDS and the detail and thought put into each one, the gifts for Nora each day, plus a concert. Just good stuff all around. And I suppose while we are on the subject of Nora, how do you feel about her? This may be one of the first episodes where I really, didn’t care for Nora. I mean, I’ve never been against her character…unsure of her place sure. But didn’t like her, maybe I just felt that way tonight because I felt sorry for Robin.
How I Met Your Mother Music
- When a Man Loves a Woman (Barney’s sings for Nora in the office while Robin looks on…we can only be so lucky to get a copy of him singing the whole song btw…)
Moments of Awesomeness
- Barney’s BDS… yep, his Bimbo Delivery Systems… so much effort, so much though, we would expect nothing less. Kind of reminded me of Barney’s Super Bowl sign during Rabbit or Duck.
- Sandy Rivers! Sandy, now just makes me remember the fun games Marshall & Ted played at his expense in Season 1/2. He’s still the same Sandy though. Maybe not the same hair though.
- The Barney Stinson Breast Reduction Consultation flyer. great idea and a hilarious BDS.
- Team Baby. While I thought it was goofy at first, it’s grown on me after my 3rd viewing
- the ReReturn (see below)…btw the droid “Luke’s Uncle” almost bought was R5-D4.

- The Baby class scenes. As I said earlier, both awesome and painful.
- the Ducky Tie. I guess we will see a lot of this for the next year. Barney certainly is a good sport though.

This ep. is awesome one of the best i love how the whole story was told by robin and TED making the “baby-team” tee i think this is a little hint to when we say the flash back with barney&marshall and how marshall has +Steph on his tee i think it plays off with the babys name and hint there having a girl first and marshall says he wants 4 kids so the last cig. after his son is born does not mean the son is his first child (has anyone think there having twins?what?)
anyway – tonight we get to see a fash of lilly giving birth and she screams were is marshall i think those 2 “flashs” go together? as why he is not there ted does say and thats a really crazy story. anyway love this show! 🙂
MOTHER THEORY!
So….I was re-watching season 1 last night, and paused after a certain episode to think for a moment. Alot of people have made a comment that the “coat check girl” could be the mother from episode “Okay Awesome”, where Robin, Ted and Barney go to the dance club “Okay”. Anyways, my thought was, maybe, just MAYBE, Barney’s cousin, Leslie, could be the Mother. You know, the chick he was grinding with the whole night and didn’t even know who she was or what she looked like. Well, technically, Ted didn’t “meet” her at the club, but it is a possibility that he could meet her at Barney’s wedding, considering she is family.
I am open to discussion. =)
YA thats a really good theory but i dont think so cuz to me she looks nothing like the kids but i will go wach it to see. i mean does she to you? i still think that we havint seen the mother in anyway only her ank like TED has. 🙂
i forgot to add that the coat girl is not the mother ted says that in car on the way back to there apt. after he say him&the mother have some bad a** wine tasting if you just wach it than you know what am talking about! 🙂

I like that the episode focused on Robin since last season she kind of disappeared. Anyhow, I think she is at a crossroads, she loves Barney. She wants Barney, but she loves him in the purest sense possible. She wants him to be happy and if that means its without her so be it because she loves him enough to want the best for him even if it means heartache for her.
Ted…. he does need therapy. Badly. He’s beginning to be the lonely third wheel that has no identity because he’s desperate and his personal life is not where he wanted it to be at this point in his life. I don’t know what the rest of the season has for him but if what he did this episode is any indication…. i’m already sick of him. Unless he becomes normal Ted like at the end of the episode. Maybe Kal Penn will stick around as Ted’s therapist (yes, please!)
That’s my takeaway from this episode….
yes Kal Penn will be hanging around for a bit i think he sign on for 5-6eps. i saw it on sidereal,com search HIMYM and they have like 1min clips of up coming HIMYM stuff. and he could be a love-intress of robins. and the way they left last nights ep. with robin starting another story makes me think they might pick up from that next week. anyway i think this season might be more of robin/barney/lilly/marshall growing up and kinda giving ted that push he needs to be were he need to be? 🙂
Put me in the camp of thinking Marshall is at the casino with Barney when Lily goes into labor. Could this be Barney’s bachelor party? Maybe Marshall goes crazy to keep Barney from going crazy on his last night as a single man. Just a thought…
I really think Ted is going to go downhill as this season progresses. I think the pending Marhsall and Lily baby and Barney getting engaged is going to send Ted over the proverbial edge. I think that also sets him up perfectly for meeting the mother at the wedding. I still have no idea who the mother is (holding out for Victoria just because I like her so much).
Wanted to add – I’m really not a fan of Nora. She got on my nerves this past episode, but I have really liked her in the past. I think I don’t like her because Barney doesn’t act like himself like he does around Robin. And the “babe” thing at the restaurant at the end was really weird…

Amazing! Honestly a good episode! A good surprise from kal too, Since he himself portraying a therapist. The main story line, is how much things have changed but robin stills has feeling for Barney, On the other hand. Barney has feelings for Norah. So its a crossroad of confusion.
While Ted gets excited for Lilys baby, He’s way to over rated with the protective thing, but all in all it was a good episode. 😀
Great episode overall. I agree that Marshall will be at the casino with Barney while Lily’s giving birth, for whichever reason. Also, yea it seems Ted will be a pretty vague character for this season, since aparently nothing significant will happen to him until Barney’s wedding (other than more nervous breakdowns).
Also, in my opinion Robin shouting “NOBODY ASKED YOU PATRICE!!” with the crazy eyes on should be on the legendary lines.

Well, I’ve never been a huge fan of Nora, but I also haven’t really disliked her until the past few episodes. I’m a HUGE Robin-Barney shipper, so it’s always been hard for me to see the good in her, but now its seriously impossible. Since the first episode of the season, when she ruined the Robin-Barney almost kiss, I’ve really been disliking her.
the funny thing is…so is everyone else. I feel like they’re trying to make us hate her now because obviously she isn’t the future bride (this is just common knowledge, I think we all know Nora won’t last.).
I do really like Kal Penns character, Kevin though. He’s funny and really awesome and I would love seeing him as a new love interest for Robin. Of course, I don’t think it would work out anyway because he knows she’s really into Barney.
So I’m still hoping for a BRo wedding….but I’d also like to see more Kal Penn 🙂
Oh! And that last bit cracked me up! “Lewis and Clark and Their Canoe.” the stupidity of it was hilarious.

I don’t dislike Nora. My thing is that it just seems like we still hardly know anything about her and the show seems to make us feel like we’ve known her for a long time. I want to try and get to know the character more before she is considered Barney’s wife.
Oh! What if Robin and Kal Penn’s character start dating and Barney gets insanely jealous? That might be the only way he will stop seeing her as a bro
i did read that her will be one of robins love intress this season! 🙂 and i think that theory is good barney seeing robin with another guy and robin seeing barney with another woman will make them both see they still love each other – am a fan of robin/barney! 🙂
Most people just dislike Nora because she is seen as a bad guy ruining Robin and Barney’s chances. If she was just Robins coworker that occasionally hung out with her(robin)/the gang, fans would certainly like her better.
Do you think that they will ever tell the story of Marshall and Lily going to the zoo which somehow explains why Robin vandalized the judge’s car?
