A man can do a lot of living in three hours.
So I’m out experiencing this beautiful, crazy dance called life.

How I Met Your Mother Music
- Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp by George Harrison – Ted pushes the button, Lily gives the news & Barney has a moment…and more
If you are like me then you loved tonight’s How I Met Your Mother. And wow is there a lot to talk about…though we’ve got all the way till Season 7 to do so! Read more after you get your free gallon of soup!
I did feel like they were trying to piss most fan’s off with the slight resurface of Zoey but hopefully that is done for.
Lily & Marshall. First off, If I remember the callback to Subway Wars correctly, Lily only thought she could speak conductor correctly…so it seems off that she can do so well now. Past that, I felt like the Pregnancy things was a given the moment she first hurled chunks. I felt like a lot of people on twitter called it as well. But I feel like it could be a good time to explore this chapter of LAME. I mean the trying to get pregnant stuff gave us a few laugh and also kept us distracted while they punched us in the gut with the death of Mr. Eriksen. I’m sure pregnant Lily will give us good laughs too…or could it bring us more grief?
Ted. This dude really seems like a B story in his own story. And that’s ok because we love the characters and seeing how it all relates to the day Ted meets her. And now we know it’s at Barney & ????’s wedding. I’m glad he got to push the button. It’s a big deal for him to succeed, and like his friends, Ted’s had a crappy and crazy year. Good thing he has friends like Barney & Robin to help him from doing something extremely stupid, like getting back with Zoey.
Robin. Just a simple though/question. Tell me what you think this face means:
… is it: What have I done? Do I still love him? Did I make a mistake? Will he be happy?
Barney & Robin. These two just make a great team together. Whether they are the wedding couple or not I feel like they make a good team. The relationship before didn’t have a lot of depth, but Barney has grown a lot…I still feel like Robin has some journey to go on. But I think it still has a chance. And their cab conversation with Ranjit (woo hoo), totally double meaning. It could not be more clear they were talking about each other.
Barney & Nora. Here is the issue. I like them together two. She made Barney face some hard truths. And the simple fact that she didn’t’ slap him and run off, I thought shows good chances for them. The “It’s never too late” line, complete double meaning. IT’s never too late for Barney to try again and it’s never too late for sundresses. Sorry, I just really like sundresses.
That’s all I’ve got for this Season. Keep stopping by in the summer as I take another look at Season 1! As for Challenge Accepted, What did you think?
Moments of Awesomeness
- New Rule: New Is Always Better…also Barney’s oldest rule…maybe?
- Hallo! Ranjit! I always love it when Marshall Manesh is on the show, even briefly.
- Dave Foley! Anyone remember Kids in the Hall?
- Velocoraptor Sound Lily. Awesome.
- Double meaning…it’s like when people talk about someone else but they really mean to be talking about themselves. What does it mean?
- Sandwiches…How come the hipster kid didn’t ask them to buy sandwiches instead of pot? Sorry, if I’m Mr. Continuity tonight
- Robin & Barney to the rescue. Thank God they showed up when they did! I couldn’t take much more of the Zoed relationship. Plus I love Robin & Barney as a team.
- The mother phych out was great. Obvious…but great.
- Barney’s Wedding! Well that answered one part of the wedding question answered. Now for the other part, game of guess who anyone?
Legendary Lines
Ted: Do you know how many people it takes to change 50,000 lightbulbs?
Barney: Are these people Irish, Polish, blondes? What are we dealing with?
Marshall: Can I borrow an adult diaper?
Robin: You were the only boyfriend I ever motorboated
Robin: Man, I wish we had gotten to Brooklyn sooner
Hipster Guy: I know right? Ever since the Trader Joe’s opened up, Brooklyn’s been like..whatever.
Robin: You can’t just run back to the past because it’s familiar.
Nora: It’s never too late
Barney: Challenge Accepted
Lingering Questions
- Is that finally the end of Zoey (like we were promised) or will we see here again?
- How do you feel about a baby on HIMYM? Good? Bad? Will we even see the kid before the end of the show?
- Robin or Nora? We can divide this into two questions…which do you like better for Barney & which do you think will be his bride?
- What did you think the the Season 6 Finale!?
I’ll take issue with part of that. I’m not sure about your stats but from the fans I’ve heard from only a very small percentage of people felt that it was Punchy’s wedding. Most fans felt it was either robin or Barney’s wedding simply for the fact that neither is seen in the scene from Big Days.
The rest of your comment, I agree, is a completely valid question. And your comment could be very “Barney”. With that said, I disagree with you but still I say it’s a question worth answering. For me I just don’t think in 2 Seasons that there exist or can be introduced another character that would warrant all 3 guys being groomsmen. Past that, while I COMPLETELY agree that the writers like to screw with our minds, that one would be a stretch. While they like to mess with us, they also love to give us small pieces of the puzzle and honestly, this seems more like a small clue than a trick. Given it’s a small clue of monumental importance to us.
Great thoughts and definitely worth more debate. Any one else wanna chime in?
I like the half sister theory. Certain might be a strong word though. Not sure I buy into the theory but it definitely has some merit.
How did I miss Masrshpillow?
well, they had an interview and it was said that we would get to see one half of the wedding so…yeah im gonna say its barney
the face robin made at the end of the episode made me do a little cheer in my head saying “yes! yes! she still loves him!” i just thought there was so much unfinished between barney and robin. the reason for the breakup was really vague and kind of..well…stupid. he spent an entire season plus the last episode of season three in love with robin. that’s a little more that just a fling, no? to me, nora just dosen’t seem right. there was always this strong connection between barney and robin all along. i just think that season five was too early for them. we needed to see a little more of womanizer barney before they could get into the really deep stuff. now that we know he will end up married, i assume they’ll use season seven to show who it is he’s marrying (please be robin haha), and then season eight to show them engaged and to finally meet the mother. when barney and robin had that scene in the car, and there was that lingering silence, it just said how much unresolved stuff there was between them. yeah, maybe i’m stupid, but barney and robin seemed to really please fans and i don’t think it’s “too late” for them.
yup. my feelings exactly. thanks dude, its nice to have someone on my side haha. nora’s definitely just a fling.
YES THANK YOU!
I can’t believe i’m saying this. but come on guys, it’s BARNEY. i really don’t think that when he said challenge accepted he meant he was gonna marry her. i think he meant he was gonna screw her and possibly date her. there’s so little back story on nora, i don’t think there’s any way BARNEY would agree to marry a girl after two seasons. technically one, since that’s when he would propose, no? and the coffee thing? every time ted said that he got back together with a girl who WAS NOT right for him at all. i’m gonna say, same goes for barney and nora. after he sleeps with her, they are so done.
glad im not the only one with a “secret” crush on him 🙂
I agree – they do like to trick us/keep us guessing, but the spoilers (from Carter & Craig) said we’d find out one of the people getting married (although actually I need to go back and confirm how clear their words were on that…). Also, who would all 3 be groomsmen for (unless Robin, but I can’t see her asking them all…it was more a cute thing with Ted.) The biggest reason I believe that Barney’s actually the groom, though, is that cute sincere Barney-look that he does when he’s being cute and sincere. It seemed real. (Although of course this begs the question of how NPH was told to play it – was he told what’s actually going on and how to play it, or did he see the script and decide to go this way? However since I’m sure there will have been several cuts of this, I’m inclined to think that Carter & Craig will have gone with what best serves the storyline that probably only they know.)
I think everyone has an NPH crush, don’t they? 😉
Hell yeah baby! At least every woman and gay guy. And the straight boys like Barney. I love Neil.
He screwed Robin once and fell in love with her, what’s your point. C & C said that the first episode of next season will pick up where this season left off and that the wedding will not go smoothly.
Barney’s wedding it the first episode of season 7
My point is that he had known Robin for a long time then. He had a crush on her far earlier (the battle ship cheating contest). But I guess we will just have to wait until September.
Carter & Craig (or one of them) have confirmed that Barney is and will absolutely be getting married that day. He is the groom. Case closed.
doesn’t future ted refer to Don as uncle Don? making him Robin’s future husband?
To unpack something (in this context) means to explain in greater detail (the idea being that your meaning is packed underneath something that obscures it and hence it needs to be “unpacked”).
Being from Belgium, do you speak French at all?
Si oui, to unpack (in this context) veut dire: “démystifier” ou “mettre qqch à plat” ou “expliquer”.
Ted does, in fact, meet the mother at the wedding.
OK! 🙂 Et bien sûr que je parle français! 😉
Ben c’est ce que j’avais plus ou moins compris et c’est ce que j’ai essaye de faire mais je pense que je me suis redus compte de mon erreur, j’avais cru comprendre pour “passenger loading only” que cela signifiait passager de passage seulement! ^^ Excusez mon erreur! 🙂
Et tu a l’air de t’y connaître toi aussi! :pEst tu Français, belge, canadien, …?
Agree! They have great chemistry and they are awesome!
True, never too late… 🙂
And I’ve always thought that Nora is a kind of copy of Robin… She has been with Barney: playing laser-tag (like in season 1 with R), having dinner in a restaurant (like in season 4 I think), feeding him when he was sick (can’t remember when) and finally… the sundress. Robin was wearing one in the first episode of this season.
Haha, merci! Je ne suis qu’un anglophone canadien, mais j’espère enseigner le français un jour. Donc, je suis toujours en train de l’étudier.
what is the name of the song when lily is running home after she found out that the soup gave her food poisoning??
Bridesmaid dresses are supposed to be ugly.
OK! Ben continue parce que tu as l’air de bien te débrouiller! 😉
Married Barney = Dead Barney.
They killed him, they killed the character.
OK. Just read the confirmation that it is indeed Barney’s wedding. It’s a bit difficult to follow all this from across the big ocean (Germany). You can’t watch CBS here. It’s all Internet research. But good to know anyway. Now we will just wait and see who the bride is.
Did anybody notice all the references to previous episodes, one i was expecting was the Robin/Adult diapers flash back.
The Mr Buttons 2 (from the episode when Barney & Nora first date)The travelling across city fast with Ranjit (from the one with Maury)
The ‘new is always better’ rule
The Charlie Brown adult talk, from the one after Valentines day (When Nora blows his off & Barney tunes out)
Lily speaking Conductor (again from the Maury episode)
The body pillow when Marshal comes back from his interview
And ofcourse Sundresses, i know i am prob missing a few references
I just checked wiki & it has about half of these
I’m sorry, I disagree. He didn’t have feelings for Robin until AFTER he slept with her. What was Season 4 mostly about besides Ted dating and getting left at the altar.
I didn’t know it was the season finale!! Barney and Robin make an excellent couple, and i hope they came back toghether. I can’t wait till september!!! 🙁
That’s what I just wrote 3 days ago. The first episode begins where Season 6 left off.
I have thought that since the episode ‘Legendaddy’ when Jerome said he had a daughter called Carly and that she was in college! I reckoned that if the wedding was Barney’s that the mother could be her as it made sense for her to be there…
If u watched episode 17, you should know. Not nora. 🙂
Absolutely.!!!! Great point MV. So the character doesnt dies therefore he does not marries
In the episode “The Exploding meatball sub” when barney takes revenge from Marshall he is shown as single or may be divorced. You can see his bed is set up for a single person and that is Barney and on such a serious issue of barney being sick or going to die no one but his friends show up.So may be the writers are just playing with us to what is going to happen in the next seasons premier
Barney (almost crying) says “Can we talk about something else?” before he sees Nora… Barney also said this same line when he, Ted and Marshall were talking about the movie “Field of Dreams” (Ted Mosby Arquitect: Season 2, Episode 4)
They are not done, remember when Nor said: “It’s never to late.”
just because his heart skipped a bit with Nora doesn’t mean anything. How do we know it didn’t happen with Robin and we just weren’t shown that? Considering the actress who portrays Nora has said ‘that she’d love to come back next season if she can’, says a bit, though she could just be trying to throw us off. But Bays and Thomas have also said it could be a 3rd option (I hope not), Nora took care of him when he was sick, but so did Robin in an earlier season
Oh yeaaah! I have also a huuuge crush on NPH. I sooo hate that he´s gay :(. But then again, the fact that he is just makes him more awesome 🙂
with two more years of HIMYM, they cannot let Barney get married. he’s too valuable.
It happened to me in real life … true story.
I think it’s got to be Barney and Nora. As stated before, there was just too much awesome in the relationship between Robin and Barney. They were an okay couple at the beginning but once they started fighting, their relationship went downhill. Nora and Barney seem to click and with Nora, Barney can see himself married, with kids, in a house in the suburbs-something not even Robin could pull out of him.
As for the baby being on the show, I think it’s going to pull out a lot of comedy as Robin is scared of babies (no matter how much she says she’s not). And honestly, I’m happy that Lily and Marshall are having a baby finally. It is time for their relationship to take that step and I think the writers of the show will know how to keep it funny (so long as they don’t over look the kid all the time like in other shows…)
I’m sort of hoping (though I also feel it may be a false lead) that Ted meets Barney’s half-sister and marries her.
The wedding isn’t the first episode……you crazy man. They are just releasing clues, like a flashforward.
Barney and Nora never had a relationship though. They went on maybe 3 dates and that was it. Besides, he was lying to her the entire time. I would hate for Robin and Barney to get back together because they did have a relationship, and it was a BAD relationship.
Remember It’s ted, the champion of the re-return.
I absolutely like this, and salute you, mister. You are truly an awesome wingman, I could have never thought about that! hahaha
I think Barney will marry Robin. Remember when Barney suggest Robin re-vamp her look after Don, wearing sundresses to bait men? Well when Nora said “It’s never too late for sundresses,” Barney thought “It’s never too late to get Robin back.”
I think tha a baby on the show will ruin lily and marshall because theyll be fed up trying to take care of the baby and they cant hang out at mclarens or go on adventures with the gang.
The thing about nora is so dum but i think barney really likes this girl and he should marry her or mabye not and be awesome instead.
