Help Save Happy Endings

Happy-Endings-cast-happy-endings-head

Listen up my HIMYM friends! I know that this is a How I Met Your Mother site but I love a lot of other shows as well. And one of the funniest shows on television may be in danger of getting axed. If you have a second please sign the petition below, post on Facebook, Twitter or whatever it takes. Happy Endings is a hilarious show and deserves some more time! See the pasted plea below from my pal Bryan on reddit:

I am in the middle of a serious effort to save a brilliant show from the threat of cancellation looming. Not yet confirmed in any reports, but fans of Happy Endings aren’t seeing a 4th season as a possibility. It’s been struggling since the Tues. night block in the 3rd season primer in fall 2012, and is now looking closer to death.

I’ve spent most of the weekend promoting my petition on Change.org to try and stop executives from burying their balls in their asses.

The writing of the petition took me many hours, and I’ve been all over promoting it. 500,000 Facebook fans of the show. 100,000 twitter followers of various cast and crew members. 1 million cast member video views on FunnyorDie.com content. Hotties Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert and Casey Wilson. LadyBoners Damon Wayans, Jr., Adam Pally, and Zachary Knighton. What is not to love?

http://www.change.org/petitions/save-happy-endings

I have 3 signatures, as of now, with 1 my own. This is saddening, especially considering the possibility of one of the Happy Endings stars to conduct a Reddit AMA in the coming days/weeks. I’ve contacted people who know people, and he’s contacted their people. It’s confusing, I know.

This is a self post, so no karma is gained.

Thanks for listening,

Bryan, petition author and #savehappyendings project lead

beawesomeinstead hearts WGNA

So because I’m a worthless slacker, I never told you all how my trip to New York courtesy of WGNA went. Furthermore, I won’t say much other than the people at WGNA are amazing! It was extremely cool that even I could feel like a celebrity for even a brief moment. The crew and other HIMYM Super Fans were amazing but I really want to offer the highest of fives to Josh and Martin. These guys were Legendary. True Story. I also enjoyed meeting and hanging out with Heather who runs the HIMYM Wikia, Tally who you better know at LivetoTivo on Youtube, and Ryan (ryan narciso on youtube). Also, Ryan and I made an exchange of sorts…his album The Key in echange for an Awesomeness Poster, excellent trade btw. So with that said…let me share a few of the awesome videos WGNA did, I’ll pump some more later in our Season 1 Summer recaps…also check them out on facebook, twitter & youtube!

Enjoy.

the Perfection Motivational Poster

himym_perfection_season4

SO if you have been around here long or watched How I Met Your Mother for any length of time then you are probably familiar with the Awesomeness Poster and the legendary poster collection in Barney’s office. Despite the Awesomeness poster being the most famous, I have always thought the coolest was the Perfection poster. The poster was there in Season 1 & 2, gone from the walls in Season 3 and back but in a different spot in Season 4! There has never been a 100%  positive id on the catch phrase but I’m fairly certain it says:

It is not good enough to win, everyone else should lose

It’s either everybody or everyone. More to the point though, it’s not exact but I’m building my own ultimate motivational poster collection like Barney Stinson’s and thought that, like the awesomeness poster, it was time to build the Perfection Poster…so, now available from the be awesome instead store is the perfection motivational poster. Try to control yourselves.

Not a Father’s Day Website

barney_pregnancy_test

The writers of How I Met Your Mother have done it with notafathersday.com. Barney(Neil Patrick Harris) was excellent in the episode “Not a Father’s Day” (it reminded me a lot of Scrubs, when Jordon told Dr. Cox that she was not pregnant and he went running through the streets screaming with excitement). The Who’s Not Your Daddy shirt’s and other merchandise was priceless. And the cheerleader effect was well thought out and so very true… I’m still pretty confused about the actually date we need to celebrate, is it November 10th?

Still… it’s an excellent use of off t.v. show marketing, you gotta love when shows do that. Check out the site, notafathersday.com; buy a who’s NOT Your Daddy shirt; or just re-watch the show..quite legendary. To encourage you to visit the site here is my favorite not a father’s day postcard from there:

Who’s Not Your Daddy

Who loves t-shirts? They happen to be a favorite hobby of mine.

Another thing I love are t-shirts I see on TV. Call it an affliction or some sort of weird people I will never meet form of peer pressure…hell, call it weak sales pitch resistance. One of my favorite shirts (that I can’t find an exact replica of) come from Scrubs. It’s the “I’m what Willis was talkin’ about” that J.D. (Zach Braff)… I did find one at T-Shirt Hell (*warning: site might have objectionable content), and while it is awesome it is not quite the same.

Either way, in tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother titled, Not a Father’s Day, Lily and Marshall are considering having a baby, but Lily wants advice from Ted and Robin, first. However, she soon finds they have very different views. I haven’t seen the episode yet but I have seen the preview and it show Barney with some pretty clever “Who’s NOT your daddy” tshirts! While not the same (but pretty stinking close) you can get your own Who’s NOT your daddy shirt on Cafe Press there are several variations so check out the choices. Just another way of helping you Be Awesome Instead (of whatever you’re doing currently… sorry I always hate ending a sentence with just “Instead” so I thought I would mention the implied part)

Sarah Chalke on Relationships in Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother

Sarah-Chalke_bw With the Season 4 premier of How I Met Your Mother tonight the interweb is all a buzz with news from the cast and various other places. All in all, there is a lot to digest even before the show airs. One interview I thought was quite interesting and something you shouldn’t miss came from the Boston Herald.

Sarah Chalke had some interesting things to say about her on air relationships as Stella on  HIMYM and as Dr. Elliot Reed on Scrubs. First off on HIMYM, there has been a lot of speculation that she could be “the Mother”…you know my reason for disagreeing because of the name Tracy theory and the article on what we do know about the mother. Luckily for me (hooray), Sarah seemed to agree saying:

“I don’t think I am, I have no idea, but I think that show is going to go on and on, and I think there are many stories left to be told.”

On the Scrubs frontier, there is the always present Elliot and J.D. story…For seven years We’ve been watching J.D. “pine after Blonde Doctor, and I gotta tell you, everyone is sick of it — Will they? Won’t they? Looks like they’re going to! Oooh, the last second, something might– oooh oooh oooh! Come on! Enough already!” (the Janitor is so right!)
When Sarah was asked, if she is rooting for J.D. and Elliot to reunite? She says:

“I’m a romantic,” she said. “I think they should end up together.”

Well, I will have to stick with the Janitor on this one…even if I am in the minority. Though, she also says she would like to stick around on Scrubs even if Zach Braff leaves at the end of this season as reported, so I’m not sure how that would work out.

Thoughts on either relationship? Share them below…

Pre Season 4 Mother News Round-up

It’s tough finding stuff to talk about on a television show when there are no new episodes out. That will change with the Season 4 Premier on September 22. Until then here is what’s happening in the world of How I Met Your Mother:

Variety says that stations will be paying upward of $350 million in it’s first cycle for re-runs of How I Met Your Mother. Not only is the coin nice for the people involved in the show but this will also mean there will be more chances to watch past episodes! Like we needed another reason to sit on the couch. (more…)

How I Met Your Mother Season 3 DVD out on October 7th

robin_and_barney Just a quick news update for  HIMYM fans. According to moviesonline.ca, FOX has announced that ‘How I Met Your Mother Season 3’ will be released on DVD on October 7th. I wonder what kind of goodies will come with this season? As you all may know Season 2 came with a small and much coveted Awesomeness Poster and there are always cool “extras” with each season.

Also, mark your calendars (Outlook, iCal, google, actual…) because How I Met Your Mother returns to the air for Season 4 on September 22.

Top 25 Television One Liners Insults

old_televisionBack in February of 2008, Radio Times came up with a list of their 25 favorite tv show one liners.  I know I miss things but this one bears repeating. Also notice that Scrub’s Dr. Cox (John McGinley) made the list at #20. I think he has had better insults but they usually fit in the “rant” column. Enjoy.

1. Basil Fawlty, John Cleese, Fawlty Towers

Sybil: “Don’t shout at me, I’ve had a difficult morning.”

Basil: “Oh dear, what happened? Did you get entangled in the eiderdown again? Not enough cream in your éclair? Hmm? Or did you have to talk to all your friends for so long that you didn’t have time to perm your ears?”

2. Mrs Merton, Caroline Aherne, The Mrs Merton Show
